Good explanation and overview

Good explanation and overview of Oil & Gas law. Oil & Gas law is basically the worst parts of property and contracts combined together for a "unique spin" on mineral rights. A lot of the law is state dependent, but the common law doctrines are definitely an important part. This book will explain those doctrines and at least get you moving in the right direction for the law in more prominent oil and gas states. If you're in Louisiana, however, this book will not be much help. If you're not in Louisiana, this book will merely give you a very quick peek at LA's mineral code, which I guess is better than nothing.

Got it as a supplement for my O&G class taught by an older professor with an affinity for the abstract. This was extremely helpful for breaking down the core principles and intricacies of O&G law as extrapolated from general property law and for highlighting the realities of practice as well.
